Employers who recruit students through job postings, internships and on-campus recruitment and interviews must adhere to JCCC's stated guidelines.

Our goal is to provide the best possible service to our employers as well as provide excellent employment opportunities for our students.

The Career Development Center reserves the right to deny an employer privileges to participate in the below activities.

Employers will be denied these privileges if there is an attempt to mislead or withhold information about the structure of their company, the nature of their recruiting practices or noncompliance with Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) standards. At no time should an employer sell directly or indirectly while recruiting on campus or via the Career Development Center web pages on the JCCC website.

Employer eligibility requirements for job postings

The following definitions are provided by National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE).

Employers are persons or firms having control over the employment of workers and the payment of their wages.

Third-Party Recruiters are eligible to post jobs on JobLinksSM and to recruit on campus. Staffing agencies will disclose the name of the client organization(s) to the Employment Relations/Internship Coordinator for which they are recruiting to verify that it is a bona fide job opportunity. This information is confidential and will not be used for publication.

Temporary Agencies or Staffing Services are eligible to post jobs on JobLinks and to recruit on campus. Staffing agencies will disclose the name of the client organization(s) to the employment relations/internship coordinator for which they are recruiting to verify that it is a bona fide job opportunity. This information is confidential and will not be used for publication.

Outsourcing Contractors or Leasing Agencies are eligible to post jobs on JobLinks and recruit on campus. Outsourcing contractors will disclose the name of the client organization(s) for which they are recruiting to the employment relations/internship coordinator to verify that it is a bona fide job opportunity. This information is confidential and will not be used for publication.

Network Marketing Companies are not considered “employers” by the Career Development Center and are not eligible to participate in on-campus recruiting, job postings on JobLinks, employer presentations, and/or sponsorships for on-campus activities. Network marketing companies are defined by the JCCC Career Development Center as having the following characteristics:

  • Sponsoring an individual to set up his/her own business for the purpose of selling products or services and/or recruiting other individuals to set up their own businesses.
  • Requiring an initial investment from this individual in the form of a starter kit, a fixed fee, or payment to attend an orientation or training session.
  • Compensation is often in the form of commission, a percentage of sales generated by others, and fees from others under their sponsorship in the organization.

Commission-based Positions are based solely on commission and are not eligible for participation in JobLinks, or on-campus recruiting. For other positions that provide a base pay plus commission, the JCCC career development center reserves the right to request the following information be submitted for review prior to any recruitment activity:

  • Is a college degree required/preferred for this position?
  • What is the base pay?
  • Is there a point at which the position becomes 100 percent commission? If so, when?
  • What is the documented earning record for this position? (What do candidates typically earn?)
  • Is the employee required to meet quotas and how are quotas related to pay/salary?
  • Is the employee required to recruit others to develop the same type of business?
  • Is the employee required to pay for leads?
  • Does your organization provide and reimburse training for this position?
  • What are the circumstances under which an employee may be expected to return training expenses or other funds?
  • Is the employee required to pass a certification test to perform this job? What is the fee? Who pays for this?
  • Is the employee responsible for purchasing supplies/starter kits/materials for this position? What is the start-up expenditure?
