More than what you learn in the classroom
All Interior Design courses are taught by award-winning professors with real-world experience. Network with professionals throughout your studies. You’ll have the chance to join several national industry student organizations:
- Interior Design Student Association (IDSA)
- American Society of Interior Designers (ASID)
- International Interior Design Association (IIDA)
- National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA)
- National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI)
Each spring, selected students redesign a room in the Symphony Designers’ Showhouse, a fundraiser for the Kansas City Symphony. You also complete a160-hour internship. You will graduate with a portfolio of studio projects and connections to many professional contacts.

JCCC’s Interior Design degree program will give you the information and skills you need to take the following industry exams:
- National Council of Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ)
- Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Associate
- Certified Kitchen and Bath Designer (CKBD)
- National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI)
If you’d like to continue your studies, you can transfer your degree to a four-year university. JCCC has transfer agreements with several well-regarded regional and national four-year institutions and adding more all the time. Talk with the Interior Design department chair to learn more.
