National Science Foundation
Improving Undergraduate STEM Education
Innovation in Two-Year College STEM Education
Whitney Turner, Associate Professor, Math, and Elaine Hembree, Associate Professor, Math, lead this 1-year grant project to develop a plan to pilot a non-algebraic dual-credit math pathways program collaborating with the Olathe School District.

U.S. Department of Education
Child Care Access Means Parents in School
Through this grant funding, the Hiersteiner Child Development Center awards scholarships to Pell-eligible student-parents to cover up to 95% of the tuition for their child (1 year and walking to 6 years).
Grant funding also provides professional development for HCDC staff.

U.S. Department of Justice
Community-Oriented Policing Services Technology and Equipment Program
FY24 Community Project Funding
(Representative Davids)
Sonta Wilburn, Director, Johnson County Regional Police Academy, oversaw the purchase of 5 training vehicles. This project will enhance the Police Academy’s capacity to train recruits for scenarios in which they interact with citizens at a traffic stop and engage in emergency driving and tactical scenarios.

Carl Perkins Reserve Fund FY25
Special Populations Support Grants
Led by Tim Whitham, Director, Fire Science, this funding increased the inventory of properly fitted gear (gloves, boots, face pieces, pants, jackets) for female students in the Fire Science Program.

Lumina Foundation
Project Grant
Dr. Jacque Eidson, Director, National Higher Education Benchmarking Institute, led this project to create a video highlighting the benefits of the National Community College Benchmark Project (NCCBP) based on four distinct community colleges: Native American Serving Nontribal Institutions, Minority-Serving Institutions, rural community colleges, and urban community colleges. It will serve to promote NCCBP as a valuable resource for institutional improvement.

Ellucian Foundation
Progress, Accomplishment, Thriving, Hope (PATH) Scholarship Program
Through Financial Aid or the Student Basic Needs Center, eligible students can apply for up to $500 in assistance with tuition, textbook fees, or emergency assistance for housing and utilities in the Fall 2025 semester.
