GED® Test Preparation

You can take GED® classes to prepare for the GED® test through the Johnson County Adult Education Program.


The first step is to attend a new student orientation sessions and register for GED® classes.

New Student Orientation

All new students attending the Antioch, Olathe and West Park locations will be required to attend an orientation of two sessions, lasting three hours each, that are offered monthly at each center. The orientation consists of important student information, goal setting and assessment testing. Students must register at least 24 hours in advance (space available on a first come, first served basis) and attend orientation before beginning classes. The following items are needed at the time of registration: 

  1. A government-issued document with photograph, such as a passport or driver's license.
  2. If students are 16 or 17, they must provide a High School Attendance Disclaimer form.
  3. A $50 materials fee paid by check, money order or debit or credit card. Payment and registration may be done in person at your chosen center. Please note that we do not accept cash.

If you are under 18

If you are 16 or 17, you must provide a high school attendance disclaimer form from the public high school in the school district where you currently live. Contact your high school, your school district administrative offices, or the Johnson County Adult Education office at 913-469-7621 for more information.

Distance Learning

If traditional class times don't fit your needs, call the JCAE office. We may have an instructional model to meet your needs so that the majority of your studying may be done online.
