You aspire to help people in need. Choose a full- or part-time program at Johnson County Community College to learn the clinical skills you need to launch your healthcare career as a licensed practical nurse.

What will I learn?

You'll be using patient simulators programmed to exhibit hundreds of symptoms. Improve and grow with feedback from your instructors.

You'll learn how to do such procedures as:

  • Medication pass
  • Catheterization
  • Assessment
  • Equipment placement
  • Blood glucose monitoring

Why JCCC?

Choose JCCC's Practical Nurse program for its sophisticated hands-on learning, and in nine short months (or 14 months part time) you could be eligible to take the National Council of Licensure Exam–Practical Nursing.

Classes are held in the Olathe Health Education Center, right next to Olathe Medical Center. You'll take what you learn in the classroom and put it to use in real-life settings at the fully equipped Healthcare Simulation Center.

You’ll use the same equipment and supplies used in hospitals, including Gaumard® Victoria®, a fully interactive birthing experience that demonstrates live birth. Other simulators mimic patient experiences that will occur regularly in practice. You’ll learn how to manage post-surgical patients and those with congestive heart failure, paralysis or mental illness.
