Greater Kansas City Writing Center Project 2026 Presentation and Participation Submission
Our Conference goals are to provide training for tutors, while also creating a low-stakes, supportive, professional development opportunity. We are offering a variety of presentation and volunteer options to present ideas, research, and practices that relate to their Writing Center work. Please read the information below, and then fill out a submission form. The deadline to submit a proposal or volunteer for another opportunity is Monday, June 15, 2026, by 11:59 p.m.
- Interactive Workshops will be full 60-minute sessions led by a tutor or a group. Ideally, 15-20 minute introduction of a strategy or topic, and 40-45 minutes of activity. Topics can be anything related to Writing Center work.
- Individual Papers will be 15-minute presentations of research, reflection, or practice. A 15-minute presentation is about 8 double-spaced pages. We will group paper presentations together to make one 60-minute session with Q&A.
- Tutor Training sessions are pre-prepared training workshops. If you want experience leading a group, we will share with you the materials for:
- HOCs & LOCs
- Difficult Tutoring Sessions
- APA Format
- MLA Format
- Talking about Grammar without Talking about Grammar
- Peer-to-peer Support will be an opportunity where other tutors/consultants can come to you for questions. This is a good way for experienced tutors/consultants to share your insight in a more casual setting, or practice your tutoring/consulting skills with your peers from across the Greater Kansas City area!
