Practical Living
Cooking with Curiosity – This curriculum from the Edible Schoolyard Project aims to increase students’ kitchen skills and confidence around preparing food. This is a hands-on course that will require using basic kitchen equipment such as knives, oven and stove and handling food. *Expansion for Saturday Instructor: TBD
Mindfulness and Meditation – Learn ways to relax your mind and body and release stress through movement, meditation and mindfulness. Instructor: S. Peters
Physical Conditioning
Exercise with YouTube – YouTube has so many different exercise instruction videos! From yoga to fitness dancing, learn ways to get fit in your own home. Instructor: S. Peters
Walking for Health – Walking is the perfect exercise. Come and learn the health benefits of walking and see how many steps you can take. Pedometers will be furnished in class. Instructor: J. Wynne
The Arts
Arts & Crafts – Create different imaginative art projects with a variety of materials. Instructor: G. Malashock
Inspired Artists – Create artwork inspired by famous artists. Instructor: G. Malashock
Showcase Performance Classes**
Behind the Scenes – Be a part of the crew making props and scenery for the drama production. Express yourself in individual artwork using a variety of materials. Instructor: D. Bergmann
Drama – Be an actor. Join the cast of this year’s production of “Footloose Review.” Instructor: D. Bergmann
Easy Listening – Elevate your mood while you sing, listen and play along with easy listening hits. Instructor: G. Berry
Handbells with Boomwhackers – Combine two of CLEAR student’s favorite instruments to create a hands-on musical experience. Instructor: G. Berry
Musical Conversations – Interact with your classmates in conversations about how different types of music make you feel. Instructor: G. Berry
My Favorite Songs – Tell us your favorite songs! Introduce your friends to songs they may not have heard and learn about their favorites as well. Instructor: G. Berry

All About Pets – What makes a perfect pet and how do you choose the pet that’s right for you? Learn how to care for all sorts of animals and keep them healthy and happy. Instructor: C. Glenski
Archaeology – Learn how scientists’ study ancient cultures, people, cities and prehistoric life through bones, fossils and relics. *Expansion for Saturday class. Instructor: J. Todd
Astronomy – Learn about the stars, planets, and galaxies that make up our solar system. Using media, take virtual tours of the cosmos and learn how to be a star gazer! *Expansion for Saturday Instructor: J. Todd
Bingo – A fun game to socialize with your friends, win prizes and learn too! Instructor: H. Gibson
Bunco – Bunco is a dice game totally based on luck. Start a conversation, make friends and interact with your peers while you enjoy a fun game. Instructor: J. Wynne
Disney Park Mania – Learn how engineers, storytellers and artists come together to design Disney theme parks. From California and Florida to Paris and Tokyo, learn how Disney magic makes them some of our favorite places. Instructor: H. Gibson
Games for a Winter Day – Bad weather can still mean fun times! Learn games and activities that you can do indoors when the weather is frightful! Instructor: H. Gibson
KC Sports Talk – Students will research and celebrate Kansas City’s hometown teams in a variety of sports. Instructor: J. Todd
Mock Trials – Learn about the judicial system through a series of Fairy Tale mock trials. Take on the roles of judge, lawyers, witnesses and the jury. Guilty or innocent? You decide! *Expansion for Saturday Instructor: J. Copenhaver
Movie Review – Talk about great movies, how they’re made and what makes them great. From the latest and best to old-time favorites, we cover all types of movies. You be the critic. Instructor: J. Copenhaver
New York Travel – Explore cultural sites to visit in one of the world’s most exciting places. Make a bucket list of things to do in New York City. Instructor: J. Todd
Science Experiments – Fascinating science experiments and hands-on activities are planned to help you learn about our natural world. Instructor: C. Glenski
Science Fiction – If you are a science fiction fan this class is for you. We’ll cover the classics and popular favorites from Star Trek to Star Wars and more. Instructor: J. Copenhaver
Sunshine Club – This class is going to spread cheer and good will to others in need. We’ll send get well cards and write letters and thank you notes to people who need a smile. Instructor: J. Copenhaver
Winter Wonderlands – Explore the coldest season of the year. Study how animals survive (and even thrive) in the winter and learn about great places to visit during the chilly months. Instructor: H. Gibson
