What will I learn in JCCC’s Neurodiagnostic Technology Program?
The Neurodiagnostic Technology program at JCCC provides you with the knowledge you need to enter into an extremely advanced career field. In four semesters, you’ll:
- Complete more than 500 clinical hours under the supervision of field professionals at hospitals in the metropolitan area.
- Learn about the brain development and electrographic activity of children from premature infants to teens and about trauma and cerebral vascular accidents in adults.
- Get firsthand knowledge about new technology that aids in brain research.
- Know how to analyze and monitor the nervous system in patients with epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, and seizure disorders.
- Gain confidence in testing disease physiologies and be a pro at the bedside aspect of patient care.
- Earn an Associate of Applied Science degree.
Here’s what you can expect:
NDT is a two-year program and Neurodiagnostic Technology classes at JCCC vary by semester.
- First Semester: Up to 14 hours per week, currently split between Tuesday and Thursday.
- Second Semester: 8 to 24 hours of two clinical days beginning in March (8 hours) and two classroom days each week for the entire semester.
- Third Semester: An average of 25 hours, with classes split over two days, plus two 8-hour clinical days.
- Fourth Semester: An average of 25 hours of nighttime clinical instruction 1 to 2 nights per week, and two days a week classroom and hybrid coursework.
This 66-credit-hour program is fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs. After completing all of the credit requirements, you will graduate with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Neurodiagnostic Technology.

The need for certified neurodiagnostic technologists is immediate.
With an aging population comes more people diagnosed with neurological disorders. The U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics named Neurodiagnostic Technology a bright outlook profession, with much faster than average growth. Salaries range from $40,000 at entry level to $180,000 for those continuing their education and specializing in interoperative neuromonitoring.
When you earn an Associate of Applied Science degree, you will be qualified for an entry-level position. You’ll work side by side with physicians and healthcare specialists in:

Additional Information:
- ASET student membership: $58.00 per year (optional but strongly encouraged)
- ABRET R.EEG T. Exam: $700. Must be taken after graduation.
- Physical examinations, including immunizations, must be current each year.
- Costs for healthcare and healthcare insurance are the responsibility of the individual student.
- If applicable, plans should be made for childcare costs.
- Transportation to and from class and to clinical agencies is the responsibility of the student.

Financial Aid
For general financial aid information, visit the Financial Aid for information. Scholarships specific to neurodiagnostic technology are only awarded to students who are enrolled in and actively taking neurodiagnostic technology (NDT) classes.
- To apply for JCCC Scholarships, you must complete the JCCC Scholarship application for the current year, have a GPA on file from high school, JCCC, or any other college you have attended, and have a current JCCC application for admission.
- To apply for scholarships without the Neurodiagnostic Technology program at JCCC, you must have a FAFSA on file at the college for the current academic year. Although students do not necessarily need to pursue federal financial aid, having a current FAFSA on file will open up more scholarship opportunities.
- Remember that the JCCC Scholarship Application must be completed every year. We award scholarships throughout the year, so it’s important to apply even if you miss the priority deadline of April 1st.
- If students think they will have difficulty financing their education, they should contact the Financial Aid office, second floor of the Student Center. You can call them at 913-469-3840. There, they can request application information for financial aid assistance as soon as possible.
