Enter the workforce as a trained and certified EMT

Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) provide medical care to stabilize and safely transport patients to a hospital.

The primary focus of this 12-hour credit course is to teach the basic life support skills needed to provide lifesaving care in a pre-hospital emergency setting. During this course, students will:

  • Strengthen knowledge from EMS 129 (EMR) including assessment, pathophysiology, and treatment of disease processes.
  • Analyze life threatening medical and traumatic conditions and rapidly develop and implement treatment plans.
  • Learn the EMT’s role in the EMS system including mass casualty triage and care utilizing enhanced patient care skills.
  • Integrate skills and classroom knowledge in high fidelity labs to prepare students to care for patients in the field.

After successful completion of this course, you qualify to test at state and national levels to earn an EMT certification.

This course has EMS 129 as a prerequisite.
