Applicability: This Policy applies to education records maintained by Johnson County Community College (“JCCC” or the “College”).

Purpose: The purpose of this Policy is to establish that the College complies with the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (“FERPA”).

Statement:

The College and its personnel are obligated to maintain student education records in accordance with the provisions of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (“FERPA”). The Act was designed to protect the privacy of education records, establish the right of students to inspect and review their education records, and provide guidelines for the correction of inaccurate or misleading data through informal and formal hearings.
