A part-time regular or part-time exempt employee may be eligible for unpaid leave for extraordinary circumstances. A request for such leave, not to exceed six (6) months, may be made by such employee by submitting a request, in writing, to the Office of Human Resources – Benefits Group. The proposal shall include:

  1. the reason for the request, and proposed length of time, and
  2. a letter of support from the employee’s immediate supervisor.
  3. The supervisor shall also include a statement providing details on how the job responsibilities will be covered during the employee’s absence.

The proposal should be submitted no less than two (2) weeks prior to the request for leave.

Part-time regular and part-time exempt employees must utilize all their personal annual leave accrual prior to utilizing any unpaid leave.

Such leave requires ultimate approval by an executive vice president, at his/her discretion.
