Requesting Accommodations for Students with Disabilities
If your disability has an impact on your learning process and you need specific accommodations, contact Access Services for assistance.
Follow these steps to request accommodations or services:
- Provide documentation of disability to Access Services. Documentation requirements vary, depending on disability. Contact Access Services to determine appropriate documentation.
- Make an appointment with an Access Services advisor to request and determine appropriate accommodations. Services will vary from class to class and are determined on a case-by-case basis. During this meeting, a Service Request Form (SRF) will be completed to start the accommodations process.
After your accommodations are approved and set up, you will be given Faculty Memos to deliver to your professors. The Faculty Memos inform professors what accommodations will be used in their classrooms. Specific information regarding your disability is not shared.
You will need to:
- Deliver Faculty Memos to professors on or before the first day/week of classes and discuss needs/accommodations with each professor.
- Inform Access Services of any concerns and/or schedule changes throughout the semester.
If you are having a problem with an accommodation, with course accessibility, or with any other academic or personal concern, please schedule an appointment with an Access advisor or the Deaf Services coordinator so we can discuss options and come up with a plan to help you resolve the problem.
