JCCC Guardian is a new, free smartphone application that allows you to improve your personal safety both on and off campus.

JCCC Guardian App

You will need to download JCCC Guardian onto your phone (directions below) and provide your stumail or employee email account.

The app is available for free download from the Apple App Store or Google Play or search for "RAVE Guardian" on your mobile device's app store.

  1. Install the application, launch it and select "Sign Up" to get started.
  2. Use your JCCC email address to access the campus features of the application. The password is user defined (set by you, and NOT connected to JCCC system passwords).
  3. Follow the directions of the application to complete set-up of Guardian.

Call Police From One Button

The app has a number of features, including the ability to call the JCCC Police Department from one button in an emergency. It also includes the ability to send a text message to JCCC Police to report non-emergency situations where assistance is needed. (For example, users can text police to report a minor accident with no injuries or ask for a secure escort to a parking garage in the evening.)

Share Your Safety Status With Loved Ones

JCCC Guardian also includes a Safety Timer that alerts your pre-selected friends and family, called Personal Guardians, to be alerted if you fail to turn off the timer before the time expires. This feature is beneficial to you both on and off campus, as it alerts your loved ones to your safety status in just a few keystrokes.

Unless you activate the safety timer, call the campus police or push the panic button, JCCC Guardian does NOT track your location. Only when these features of the program have been activated does the application transmit your location. A visible indication on your phone clearly shows when your location is being transmitted.

Give Emergency Responders Medical Information

JCCC Guardian also offers users to provide information to first responders they may not otherwise know. For example, by inputting your medical history into the JCCC Guardian safety profile, emergency responders may learn from dispatchers of pre-existing conditions such as diabetes or epilepsy, even if you can't tell them yourself. By filling out JCCC Guardian's medical profile (which helps with treatment) and safety profile (which helps with notification of loved ones), you're already being proactive about your well-being.

Learn More About JCCC Guardian

Johnson County Community College researched personal-safety apps for two years before deciding on Guardian to help protect the campus community.

After extensive research into personal-safety applications, Emergency Preparedness selected RAVE Guardian to enhance the communication between the JCCC Police and the campus community. The program is a partnership among JCCC Emergency Preparedness, Information Services and Marketing Communications.
