Hiersteiner Child Development Center
The Hiersteiner Child Development Center (HCDC) program is designed to support the efforts of JCCC students to pursue their educational goals and to offer support needed by JCCC faculty and staff to achieve their work potential.
HCDC is licensed by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment and accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Academy for Early Childhood Program Accreditation.
Enrollment is currently open to children of JCCC students, employees and the community.
We are licensed for children ages 1 and walking through age 6 by September 1. The center provides child education and care on a part- or full-time basis, with toddler early learning and preschool programs offered in the morning and afternoon.
The toddler classrooms Hideaway Woods, Bug Garden and Big Backyard have a teacher/child ratio of 1:4.
Young preschool classrooms Bamboo Forest and African Kingdom have a teacher/child ratio of 1:10. Preschool classrooms Blue Lagoon and Rainforest have a teacher/child ratio of 1:10.
HCDC is fortunate not only to have a staff of well-educated classroom teachers, but to also have trained on-call substitutes.
