Preparing for Placement Tests
Beginning Dec. 1, 2016, the COMPASS placement test will no longer be given. Our new placement test will be ACCUPLACER. In order for you to do your very best, it is important that you review before taking the placement tests. By reviewing you will have the opportunity to sharpen your skills and become familiar with the test-taking experience. By preparing, you will help ensure the most accurate test results and the best placement for you.
No prior registration is required and there is no fee. You are allowed one retest during the dates specified by Testing Services. You must know your JCCC eight-digit ID number.
- Placement testing is available on a walk-in basis (no appointment necessary) in Testing Services, during regular Testing Services hours.
- You must present a current official photo I.D.
- You must know your JCCC eight-digit ID number.
- The test is not timed.
- ACCUPLACER study materials are available at www.accuplacer.org, along with a free downloadable study app specifically designed for the ACCUPLACER tests.
Score reports are available immediately after testing. Placement scores in reading and writing are valid for five years from test date; placement scores in math and ESL are valid for two years from test date.
