JCCC’s Sexual Assault Resource Team was formed to support the College’s prevention, education and response initiatives.

The team’s ultimate goal is to stop relationship violence from occurring, in support of Title IX, the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act, the SaVE Act and the Clery Act.

Members of the Sexual Assault Resource Team (SART) are:

  • Anne Turney, Director of Student Life & Leadership (Chair)
  • Dan Robles, Crime Prevention Officer
  • Angie Claussen, Counselor
  • Erin Walters, Counselor
  • Mya Lawrence, Manager of Student Life & Leadership
  • External Partners: MOCSA and SafeHome

Sexual Assault Resource Team programming includes:

Start by Believing Day

Start by Believing is a movement where we believe and voice the successes and worries of those who have experienced or are experiencing sexual, emotional or domestic violence.

SART and the Drugs and Alcohol Resource Team (DART) hold a Start by Believing event each April, during Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The team sponsors tables to promote awareness of the event and provides information about available resources.

Self-Care Day

The SART and DART teams share information with the JCCC community about Self-Care Day, observed each year on April 5. It’s a day to show yourself some extra love and make choices that benefit your health and wellness.

Denim Day

On Denim Day, held on the last Wednesday of April, all are invited to wear denim as a visible sign of protest against sexual violence. The SART and DART teams provide information tables on campus to promote Denim Day and raise awareness about sexual assault and related resources.
