The goal: Help JCCC students who are also parents finish their degrees.

Balancing child care and college can be challenging—we can help.

The JCCC Child Care Access Fund Scholarship can cover up to 95% of child care costs at the on-campus, state-licensed and nationally accredited Hiersteiner Child Development Center (HCDC).

Funded by the U.S. Department of Education’s Child Care Access Means Parents in School (CCAMPIS) program, the JCCC Child Care Access Fund Scholarship also provides peace of mind, knowing your child will have excellent care from skilled providers through our premier on-campus child care center.

The JCCC HCDC Child Care Assistance Grant is a supplemental scholarship opportunity to eligible students who are parents.

To be considered for these opportunities, students must first enroll their child at HCDC. Scholarship funds can only be applied to child care services provided at HCDC and cannot be used at off-campus child care centers.

Take your next steps:

  1. Apply and be admitted to JCCC.
  2. Fill out the HCDC Application for Admission.
  3. Complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) for the applicable academic year, demonstrating financial need and Pell Grant eligibility.
  4. Submit the JCCC Scholarship Application for the applicable academic year, indicating that you have child care expenses.

Eligibility cannot be determined until all steps are completed.

These same steps are also required to be considered for the JCCC HCDC Child Care Assistance Grant, which requires an additional application, through the JCCC Scholarship Portal. Applications are accepted year-round, but HCDC space and funding are limited. Apply early, ideally before JCCC’s April 1 priority scholarship deadline.

If your enrollment has changed, this can affect your scholarship.

Please ensure you complete all required applications each year. To maintain eligibility for funding, your child must be enrolled at HCDC, and you must complete the FAFSA and JCCC Scholarship Application each year.

No. The child care scholarships are only available to student parents whose children are enrolled at HCDC. If your child is not enrolled at HCDC, you are not eligible for child care funding through JCCC. However, if you are still a current student, we encourage you to complete the FAFSA and JCCC Scholarship Application to be considered for other scholarship opportunities. JCCC scholarships and/or federal aid can help cover child care costs outside of JCCC, depending on the amount received, once refunded to you.
