The goal: Help students who are also parents finish their degrees.

If you worry about finding enough money to cover child care and your tuition, we can help.

JCCC has received a four-year grant from the U.S. Department of Education’s Child Care Access Means Parents in School (CCAMPIS) program. Thanks to a generous a match from the JCCC Foundation, the JCCC Child Care Access Fund Scholarship was established.

The scholarship covers 75 to 95 percent of child care costs through the state-licensed and nationally accredited Hiersteiner Child Development Center (HCDC) on campus.

It’s more than simply convenient for you. At HCDC, you can feel confident knowing your child will have excellent, consistent care from skilled providers at a premier child care center.

To apply, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the JCCC Scholarship Application for the aid year. There is no deadline to apply. Applications are considered throughout the year as space allows. However, we encourage you to apply before JCCC’s scholarship priority deadline of April 1.

To be eligible, you must:

  • Show financial need and Pell Grant eligibility, as determined by your FAFSA results.
  • Meet and maintain JCCC’s Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress
  • Have a dependent child between 1 year and walking through age 6 (by September 1).

We’ll notify you if you are eligible, so watch your stumail account.

If you are awarded the scholarship, you must:

  • Commit to enroll your child for 5-day/full-day care for awarded term
  • Enroll in 9 or more credit hours for the awarded term, including a 1 credit hour College Success course
  • Attend a pre-semester family orientation and parent-teacher conference
  • Commit to attending two parenting workshops offered during the first awarded term

Awarded amounts will follow a sliding scale based on the official Expected Family Contribution (EFC) from the FAFSA. For continued eligibility, apply every year.
