Unless otherwise noted, tour groups may not exceed 40 students, and one adult chaperone is required for every 15 students.

Program-Specific Group Tours
Animation and Motion Capture Labs
Up to 120 minutes | Middle and High School Students
Located in our Collaboration Center (CoLab), students will visit our Motion Capture Studio to see first-hand the role animation and motion capture technology play in all forms of entertainment. If art and technology are of interest to your students, this is the tour for them.
Astronomy
Up to 120 minutes | Middle and High School Students
Explore the fascinating world of astronomy with a tour of the Astronomy and Physics labs. Look through telescopes (if weather permits) and engage in an out-of-this-world activity with faculty. Astronomy tours are limited to a maximum of 24 students.
Career Exploration
Up to 120 minutes | Middle and High School Students
It’s a big world full of opportunity. Choosing a college degree and future career can be stressful. Career Development Center staff will lead your group in a fun, hands-on activity to help students identify their strengths and learn how they might translate into a college degree and career path.
Dental Hygiene
Up to 120 minutes | Middle and High School Students
Interested in learning what it takes to become a dental hygienist? According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the field is ranked as one of the fastest growing healthcare occupations and on average, dental hygienists make $72,000 a year. Take a tour of JCCC’s state-of-the-art Dental Hygiene Clinic as well as our Oral Health on Wheels (OHOW) truck, complete with two dental bays and an X-ray station.
Emergency Medical Science (EMS) and Nursing
45-60 minutes each, 90-120 minutes combined | Middle and High School Students
Discover the work environments of emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and nurses by touring an ambulance and simulated hospital rooms complete with equipment and interactive mannequin patients. Learn about the differences between JCCC’s many medical programs and have your questions answered by our knowledgeable faculty with real-world medical experience.
Fine Arts and Design Studios (FADS) and Fashion
45 minutes each, 90 minutes combined | Middle and High School Students
Immerse yourself in the world of art and design with a tour of JCCC’s Fine Arts and Design Studio (FADS) building and Fashion Merchandising and Design programs. FADS is home to our Ceramics, Digital Imaging, Drawing, Film and Media Studies, Graphic Design, Metal and Silversmithing, Painting, Photography and Sculpture programs. A visit to our Fashion Merchandising and Design program can include a stop at the JCCC Historical Fashion Collection, which contains more than 1,500 pieces of apparel from world-renowned designers dating back to the 1850s. The budding artist or designer will enjoy this tour.
Industrial Technology
Up to 120 minutes | Middle and High School Students
Tour our career “neighborhood” in 3 exciting buildings in Hugh L. Libby Career and Technical Education Center (CTEC); Welding, Construction Management, Machining Technology (WCMT); and Industrial Training Center (ITC). CTEC’s state-of-the-art facilities bring together current automotive, engineering and electrical technology programs with a new workforce development curriculum, including Automation Engineer Technology, Automotive Technology, Electrical Technology, Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Technology (HVAC) and Plumbing Technology certificates. WCMT houses the Construction Management degree that has partnered with many local construction companies to update labs, as well as the Metal Fabrication/Welding program, an exciting degree where you can work with your hands in an exciting career field. Electronics Technology is housed in ITC, where they can work on the latest equipment in their labs.
Journalism and Marketing
60 minutes each, 120 minutes combined | Middle and High School Students
An exciting career in journalism or marketing could begin at JCCC! Hear from our faculty, all of whom are local and international journalism and marketing professionals, as you tour our student-run media studios complete with cameras, recording soundboards and film and photography editing equipment. Learn how those fantastic communication skills translate into a promising career in marketing, and discover what a marketing management degree could mean for your professional career.
Midwest Trust Center (MTC)
Up to 60 minutes | Middle and High School Students
Do your students have a love for all things theatrical? JCCC’s Midwest Trust Center brings professional touring companies to campus so people of all ages can enjoy high quality theatrical and musical productions. A tour of MTC provides students an opportunity to learn what behind the scenes magic is required to bring shows to life.
Olathe Health Education Center (OHEC)
Up to 120 minutes | Middle and High School Students
The College’s Olathe Health Education Center (OHEC) houses classrooms and skills labs for health occupations including the Practical Nursing, Respiratory Care and Neurodiagnostic Technology programs. A tour of OHEC can open students’ eyes to some lesser known yet rewarding and lucrative medical fields.
Open Petal Farm and Sustainability Department
60 minutes each, 120 minutes combined | Middle and High School Students
JCCC is home to a 3-acre farm which provides hands-on learning experiences for our Sustainable Agriculture students. Tours of Open Petal Farm include the growing fields, a moveable high tunnel, a solar storage shed, a CoolBot® refrigerated trailer and numerous other projects. Tour groups can also learn about JCCC’s sustainability efforts including campus recycling, energy conservation and composting.
Railroad Science
60-90 minutes | Middle and High School Students
Tour the National Academy of Railroad Sciences at JCCC. This 130,000-square-foot facility is dedicated to training students interested in rewarding careers in the railroad industry. Speak to former railroad professionals and view simulation laboratories used to duplicate real-world railroad scenarios.
Wylie Hospitality and Culinary Academy (WHCA)
60 minutes | Middle and High School Students
Step inside the ultramodern complex housing our hospitality and culinary programs. Discover our interactive classrooms, including five culinary labs, an innovation kitchen and a demonstration kitchen in a culinary theater. If your students are ready to enter the field, we’ll go over articulated credit for Hospitality Management programs, which allows students to enter the culinary profession earlier.
