Conductor Certificate Training Plan — Two Options

Option 1 — Fast-Track Conductor Online Hybrid – 16 Weeks

  • Sixteen-week online-only Intro to the Railroad Industry course, devote 1-2 hours per week. Assignments due weekly. No mandatory meetings.
  • Four weeks of daily mandatory class meetings (0900 CT) via Canvas and Zoom. You should be prepared to devote 6-8 hours per day to independent study. Assignments due daily.
  • Two Weeks Face-to-Face on JCCC Campus and Training Yard.

The SUMMER 2026 fast-track plan is Monday, June 8 – Sunday, September 27

  • Sixteen Weeks Intro to the Railroad Industry Course - Online Only
    • Monday, June 8 – Sunday, September 27
  • Four Weeks Online with Mandatory Zoom Sessions  (0900 CT)
    • Monday, June 22 – Friday, July 17
  • Two Weeks Face-to-Face on JCCC Campus and Training Yard
    • Monday, July 20 – Friday, July 31 

The FALL 2026 fast-track plan is Monday, August 24 – Sunday, December 14

  • Sixteen Weeks Intro to the Railroad Industry Course - Online Only
    • Monday, August 24 – Sunday, December 14
  • Four Weeks Online with Mandatory Zoom Sessions (0900 CT)
    • Monday, September 14 – Friday, October 9
  • Two Weeks Face-to-Face on JCCC Campus and Training Yard
    • Monday, Monday, October 12 – Friday, October 23

Option 2 — Extended Track Conductor Certificate Plan

  • Designed with the working professional in mind, the Extended Track is predominantly online with no mandatory class meetings.
    • The coursework follows a weekly format online in the Canvas Learning Management System. Students are expected to log in, read course materials, contribute to online discussions, and complete assignments each week.
  • One week Face-to-Face on JCCC Campus and Training Yard

The SPRING 2026/SUMMER 2026 Extended Track begins Tuesday, January 20 and tentatively runs through Friday, July 31. This program includes one week of training at JCCC to satisfy the requirements of RRTC 267, Conductor Field Training, which will be held Monday, July 27 - Friday, July 31.

The FALL 2026/SPRING 2027 Extended Track begins Monday, August 24, 2026, and tentatively runs through Sunday, May 9, 2027. This program includes one week of training at JCCC to satisfy the requirements of RRTC 267, Conductor Field Training, which will be held in Spring 2027.
