Our History and Mission

The History of the Police Academy

The Johnson County Regional Police Academy (JCRPA) was established through a partnership between the Johnson County Police Chiefs and Sheriffs Association, Johnson County Community College, and the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center to provide standardized, high-quality training for newly hired law enforcement officers across Johnson County. Since its inception, the Academy has served as the primary regional training institution for officers representing the county’s law enforcement agencies, delivering the knowledge, skills, and professional foundation required for certification and service and helping prepare officers to meet the increasingly complex demands of modern policing while maintaining the trust and confidence of the communities they serve

Today, the Johnson County Regional Police Academy remains committed to shaping the next generation of law enforcement professionals through a training philosophy grounded in character, competence, and service.
