Learn medical terminology, electronic health records, and communication techniques to be confident with your work in a medical office.
Start a career or change careers – become a medical office specialist
Be involved in both the clinical and administrative side of offices. Perform patient intake, organize records, and verify patient information using web tools and application software.
Multitasking is necessary, as you will assist with:
- Preparation of business documents
- Maintaining electronic health records
- Applying medical coding to billing statements
- Project management
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, are important. Knowing medical terminology and legal and ethical issues helps you understand how to manage creating reports and statements for patients. You will also sit for the Certified Electronics Health Records (CEHRS) exam.
