In just two semesters, you can pursue legal office positions in law firms, courthouses, and business legal offices.
Upgrade your skills, or start career as a legal professional
Bring order into the world of law with JCCC’s Legal Administrative Assistant program, where you will:
- Understand the basics of the U.S. legal system, legal office procedures, and legal terminology.
- Learn to use industry-standard software to create, edit, and share common legal documents and forms.
- Develop clear communication and writing skills.
- Evaluate and use specialized legal software to perform common workplace tasks including litigation support, case management, file management, timekeeping and billing, and presentation preparation.
Note: The Legal Administrative Assistant Certificate is not associated with the JCCC Paralegal program and is not intended to prepare students to work as a paralegal.
Use current online tools and software applications
Our curriculum prioritizes mastering software commonly used in legal offices. Ask questions and learn from instructors with experience in the field in small class settings—no giant lectures halls here!
Keep learning outside the classroom. Watch the legal process at work when the Kansas Court of Appeals hears oral arguments at JCCC.
Receive expert advice from our advisory committee. Made up of local professionals, the board provides insight on emerging trends and opportunities in the field, helping to ensure the program is current, well-designed, and student-focused.
Opportunities to continue are endless
Expand your education with an associate degree. Follow the two-year program and earn the Administrative Assistant AAS, increasing your marketability to employers.
Enjoy gainful employment upon graduation. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that Kansas paralegals and legal assistants earn an average of over $53,000.
Find employment projections and salary information at the Power BI Post Graduate Report.
Need help with homework? No problem!
The JCCC Academic Resource Center offers free tutoring in almost any subject. And our small legal administrative assistant classes — most classes have fewer than 25 students — means you’ll get one-on-one attention and feedback from your professors.
Accreditation
JCCC’s Business Office Technology certificate and degree offerings are aligned with the International Association of Administrative Professionals’ (IAAP) Body of Knowledge for the Certified Administrative Professional (CAP) exam.
