Applicability: This Operating Procedure applies to the Johnson County Community College (“JCCC” or the “College) campus community, including all students, personnel, and visitors with respect to use of Tobacco and Smoke Products.
Purpose: The purpose of this Operating Procedure is to set forth procedures regarding tobacco and smoke violations and appeals.
Procedures:
The JCCC Police Department will enforce the Tobacco and Smoke Free Campus Policy 621.00 in accordance with this Operating Procedure.
I. Fines
Individuals violating the Tobacco and Smoke Free Campus Policy 621.00 will be assessed a fine of $10.00. Fines will be declared unpaid if not paid within ten (10) business days.
II. Student Violations
Students with an unpaid fine for a tobacco and smoke violation will have their records placed on “hold.” This action will prevent the student from adding or dropping classes and enrolling in future classes until all fines are paid.
III. Employee Violations
Employees with an unpaid fine for a tobacco and smoke violation will be referred to Human Resources. Employees found in violation of the Tobacco and Smoke Free Campus Policy 621.00 may be subject to discipline up to and including termination of employment in accordance with the Suspension, Demotion and Termination Policy 415.08.
IV. Appeal Procedures
Appeals of tobacco and smoke violations must be submitted on the JCCC Appeal Form and received by the JCCC Police Department in the Midwest Trust Center, MTC 115, within ten (10) business days after issuance of the ticket, or the right to appeal is forfeited.
V. Payment of Fines
Fines may be paid online or at the JCCC Bursar's Office, SC 113, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
