CARES Act: Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund – Institutional Portion
To cover costs associated with significant changes to the delivery of instruction due to the coronavirus, including expanding remote learning programs, building IT capacity to support such programs, and training faculty and staff to operate effectively in a remote learning environment.

Adult Education Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Grant FY21
To help adults improve basic skills including English language proficiency, reading, writing, math, computer use, problem-solving and other “soft” skills critical for workforce success.

Dollar General Literacy Foundation
Dollar General Literacy Foundation Adult Literacy Grant
To deliver two courses for high-level adult basic learners seeking the GED and English Language Learners on JCCC’s main campus during Summer ’20. The project goal is to help students become more familiar with the campus and so make a successful transition to JCCC.  A Transition Coach will also work individually with students in both cohorts to provide the wrap-around services.

Kansas City Regional COVID-19 Response and Recovery Fund
To create a separate housing assistance fund for students who have been financially impacted by the COVID-19 Pandemic to use for rent/mortgage, emergency housing, and utilities.

To provide funds in the form of emergency financial aid grants to students who have been impacted financially by the COVID-19 pandemic. Students may use funds for: Books & Supplies needed to continue courses; Technology needed to continue courses; Additional Class Fees; Temporary Food Insecurity (Meal Share participants and/or Food Pantry Registrants); Transportation – out of state students; Childcare with childcare grants; Loss of Financial Aid due to class cancellation.

To recruit and enroll in JCCC’s CDL-A program 15 veterans and/or their family members, as well as assist with job placement into a professional truck driving position over the 12-month grant period.

National Institutes of Health
Assessing Telephone All Nations Breath of Life for Efficacy
To reach a larger American Indian (AI) population by expanding the All Nations Breath of Life culturally-tailored smoking cessation program (ANBL).

Hall Family Foundation Grant
To bring a quality performing arts experience and education to school-age children throughout the Kansas City region by providing free tickets and bus subsidies to school districts.

Secondary Education, Two-Year Postsecondary Education, and Agriculture in the Classroom (SPECA) Challenge Grant Program
To expand the current Sustainable Agriculture certificate into a 2-year degree program. The project will involve creating 6 new courses, partnering with high schools and universities in establishing a Sustainable Agriculture pipeline, and convening potential employer partners.
