Through New Dance Partners, a select group of local professional dance companies are paired with reputable choreographers from across the county to create new works. The 2021-2022 virtual program provides an opportunity for local dance companies to advance and sustain artistic development.

2022 Leadership Transformation Grant
To provide up to 60 scholarships for Johnson County Community College full-time employees to attend programming offered by the Kansas Leadership Center as the College works to develop future leaders under the new governance structures. The programming will be offered both in-person and virtually throughout 2022.

Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) Operator Safety Training Grant
To recruit and enroll in JCCC’s CDL program 15 veterans and/or their family members, as well as assist with job placement into a professional truck driving position over the 14-month grant period.

National Endowment for the Arts/Kansas Creative Arts Industries Commission
Integrated Arts Education Program FY22
To train a cohort of locally-based Kennedy Center certified teaching artists. These teaching artists will serve as a resource for K-12 educators throughout Kansas looking to integrate arts into their non-arts curriculum.

To support faculty professional development, the establishment of a faculty mentoring program, the creation of a student success coaching initiative, and the purchasing of one new Gaumard Mannikin for the Healthcare Simulation Center.

To provide funds in the form of emergency financial aid grants to students who have been impacted financially by the COVID-19 pandemic.

To cover costs associated with significant changes to the delivery of instruction due to the coronavirus, including expanding remote learning programs, building IT capacity to support such programs, and training faculty and staff to operate effectively in a remote learning environment.

Youth Apprenticeship Intermediary (YAI) Project
To provide financial assistance (i.e. tools and supplies) to support Chef apprentices’ persistence in the apprenticeship program.

Technology Internship Grant
The KBOR Technology Internship grant program supports full-time faculty in CTE programs to intern at regional businesses to upgrade knowledge and skills in their profession, vocation, or trade. Pam Hulen, Professor, Marketing & Management, will complete a 40-hour internship in June and July at Barkley, focusing on how agencies employ data-driven tools in marketing.

AO-K @ Work Grant
To expand on a pilot project to demonstrate the feasibility and benefits of employer onsite ESL classes. Funding is to conduct a 10-week session of ESL classes for one cohort of nine Environmental and Nutrition employees at AdventHealth.

Dollar General Literacy Foundation Adult Literacy Grant
The project will launch a Summer Mathematics Institute and Spring Writing Institute to supplement Adult Basic Education instruction. Each pilot program will support 15 students working towards their GED.

Project Firstline: Infection Control in the Community College Curriculum
Two faculty in the Respiratory Care program will collaborate with other healthcare faculty across the country to enhance current infection control curriculum over the summer. The faculty will pilot and evaluate the updated curriculum during the Fall 2021 semester.
