You can ask a quick, general question through Instant Messaging (IM).

A Student Development Specialist is online from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Hours are subject to change. Check the status box for availability.

Privacy Notice - No Personal Information (FERPA)

Due to Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) regulations, we are not able to discuss personal information online. Do not IM your SSN, student ID #, or any identifying information. Please keep in mind that Instant Messaging is not a secure communication system and may be viewed by others.

How to Use the IM Box

  1. Enter a user name. You may use your own name or an alias.
  2. Type your question into the dialog box.
  3. Wait for us to respond.
  4. Ask a follow-up question if necessary.
  5. Let the Student Development Specialist know your question has been answered or if you need to end the session for any reason. 
  6. If your question(s) cannot be answered in this format, please call the Success Center at 913-469-3803 and a Student Development Specialist will be happy to assist you.

We can answer these types of questions via IM.

  • How will I know when I can enroll?
  • How do I know which CRN to enroll in?
  • How do I enroll in my classes online?
  • Where do I take my placement test at JCCC?

We CANNOT answer these types of questions via IM.

  • What math class did I place into? (refer to your results sheet)
  • What is my student ID number? (found within your MyJCCC account)
  • What grades did I earn last year? (found within your MyJCCC account)
  • I want to major in Engineering at KU.  Will Calculus transfer there and count towards my degree? Refer to our transfer information in counseling and/or contact the transfer institution directly)
