Career Decision Model Image

Think about career decision-making as planning a road trip. Similar to when you’re preparing for a vacation, making a career decision takes time and energy. It is a lifelong process of self-discovery, seeking answers to questions like–Who am I? Where am I going? How do I get there?

Who am I? Discover Yourself

We offer workshops and assessments that help you find out more about yourself - your values, interests, personality, skills and strengths - so that you can make informed decisions when choosing a career or major.

Where am I going? Investigate Majors and Careers

In order to figure out where you are going, you need to investigate college majors, research careers, investigate experiential learning opportunities and explore the job market.

How do I get there? Create an Educational Plan, Search and Prepare for Jobs and Internships

The final steps in making a career decision involve choosing a major, developing an educational action plan, and preparing and searching for a job or internship. The career development center has many resources and services to support you in these endeavors, including support for resume writing and internship preparation. Meeting with a career counselor or career information specialist can also help you get on your way.

Are you ready to plan the trip of your life? What will your roadmap look like? Be prepared to have alternate routes for enjoying points of interest or unexpected detours.
