Set yourself apart in a globalized world. Learn another language.

Knowing another language is a highly sought-after skill in the workforce and when transferring to a 4-year school. Learning a language is possible at any age. With free tutoring, small classes and talented faculty, JCCC’s foreign language programs give you the support you need to succeed.

What will I learn in JCCC's Foreign Language programs?

Go beyond studying words. Immerse yourself in the culture of the language. Get involved in campus organizations and make new friends. Study abroad and feel comfortable in everyday interactions. Participate in campus festivals and celebrate long-held traditions.

Choose from six language offerings. According to UNESCO, these are among the most widely spoken languages:

  • American Sign Language/Deaf Studies
  • Chinese
  • Spanish
  • French
  • German
  • Japanese

Why study a foreign language?

You’ll see extensive benefits as you study another language, in and out of the classroom:

  1. Improve your grades! Studies show learning a foreign language raises scores in math and language arts.
  2. Gain a better understanding of English. When you master a new language, you also increase your native language skills.
  3. Reduce travel barriers. Want to study abroad? Knowing a foreign language reduces culture shock and provides an unforgettable journey.
  4. Meet new people. Connect with different cultures and broaden your perspective.
