Placement testing is only required for English, chemistry, math and physics College Now courses.

Is a placement test necessary?

To determine if placement is required for your course, go to the class schedules and select your high school link. If a prerequisite or test score is required for your class, it will be noted.

Note: There are multiple ways you may meet the placement requirement. You can meet a prerequisite by taking a prerequisite JCCC course or taking a placement test. See the chart below for placement specifics for each College Now course or your school’s class schedule.

If you haven't taken the Accuplacer but meet the placement requirements above:

Attach documentation to show how you meet the placement requirement (e.g., ACT score report, high school transcript for GPA requirement, etc.).

For ACT Score Submission

  • Your full name (first and last) must appear clearly on the ACT score report you submit for waiver.
  • The ACT test date(s) for the scores you submit must also be clearly indicated on the report.

For High School Transcript Submission

  • You must submit a comprehensive high school transcript with your cumulative, unweighted GPA clearly indicated.
  • Partial or single-semester transcripts will not be accepted for waiver.
  • Additionally, information from your high school’s student portal will also not be accepted for waiver.

If the above minimum requirements are not met, your waiver request will be denied. All waiver denial and approval confirmations will be routed directly – and only – to your JCCC stumail account. Please check it often. Upon approval, a placement waiver will be added to your account. Once you receive the approval confirmation, you will then be required to enroll in the appropriate JCCC course.

If you do not have a qualifying ACT score, HS GPA, or AP test score:

Visit Math Placement Practice Tests or English and Reading Placement Practice Tests for test information and study materials.

When you are ready to take the placement test, schedule a time to take it with Testing Services.
