College Now Testing Information

Placement testing is only required for English, chemistry, math, physics, and CNA College Now courses.

Do you need the placement test?

To determine if placement test or ACT scores are required for your course, go to the class schedules and select your high school link. If a prerequisite or test score is required for your class, it will be noted.

Study for the test

We strongly recommend that you prepare in advance by reviewing the test prep materials.

Take the test

Testing Services is located on the third floor of the Student Center, Room 334.

Be sure to check Testing Services hours before going to take the placement test as hours are subject to change.

Bring ID

In order to take the ACCUPLACER placement test, you must bring a current official photo ID, such as a JCCC ID, driver’s license, or state ID and you must know your JCCC 8-digit student ID number.

You will not be allowed to test without these two important identifiers.

Check out Testing Services procedures which includes a list of personal items not allowed during testing.

Submit ACT scores

Learn more about how you can submit your AP College Board scores or call Testing Services at 913-469-4439 (select option 3).

You may also check with your high school to see if your ACT scores are recorded on your high school transcript.  If so, have your high school send a copy of your high school transcript to our Admissions Office for processing.

AP English Language and Composition score of 3 or higher, can be used to place into English Composition II for students who have not received College Now credit for Composition I.

IMPORTANT: Enrollment in the high school course does not guarantee enrollment in the equivalent College Now course at JCCC. Your placement test score can have a significant impact on your eligibility to enroll.

Students who need disability accommodations for the placement test may contact Access Services.
