College Now Testing Information

Placement testing is only required for English, chemistry, math, physics, and CNA College Now courses.

Is a placement test necessary?

To determine if placement test or ACT scores are required for your course, go to the class schedules and select your high school link. If a prerequisite or test score is required for your class, it will be noted.

Note: College Now high school students who have taken the ACT exam and have qualifying scores that meet the testing requirements are not required to take the JCCC placement test.

Prepare for the test

Required testing must be completed prior to enrollment. We strongly recommend that students prepare in advance by reviewing the test prep materials available. Enrollment in the high school course does not guarantee enrollment in the equivalent College Now course at JCCC. Your placement test score can have a significant impact on your eligibility to enroll.

Take the test

Testing Services is located on the third floor of the Student Center, Room 334.

Be sure to check Testing Services hours before going to take the placement test as hours are subject to change.

ID is required

In order to take the ACCUPLACER placement test, you must bring a current official photo ID, such as a JCCC ID, driver’s license, or state ID and you must know your JCCC 8-digit student ID number.

You will not be allowed to test without these two important identifiers.

Check out Testing Services procedures which includes a list of personal items not allowed during testing.

How to Submit ACT scores

There are 3 ways you can submit your qualifying ACT scores to JCCC:

  1. From ACT: Request your scores be sent to JCCC when you register to take the ACT test.  ACT scores are not downloaded automatically, students MUST call JCCC Testing Services, 913-469-4439 to verify we have received your ACT scores and to request they be loaded to your student record.

  2. Student copy received from ACT: If you requested an official score report be mailed to you when you registered to take the ACT test, you may bring your original score report to Student Transcript and Registration, Student Center, Room 213. We will not accept a photocopy or a score report printed from the ACT website as they are not considered official.

  3. From your high school: Verify with your high school that your ACT scores are on your high school transcript. If so, request a copy of your high school transcript to be sent to our Admissions Office for processing.

How to Submit Advanced Placement Scores (AP College Board)

AP English Language and Composition score of 3 or higher can be used to place into English Composition II for students who have not received College Now credit for Composition I.

There are 3 ways you can submit your qualifying AP English Language and Composition score to JCCC:

  1. Have your original AP College Board exam scores sent to JCCC Testing Services directly from the College Board. AP waivers are not automatically entered, students MUST call JCCC Testing Services, 913-469-4439 to verify we have received the AP score report and request the waiver for Composition II. We do NOT accept hand-carried copies.

  2. Students may come to the Student Success Center, 2nd floor of the Student Center to the Registration lab (SC 213). We will have the student log in to the College Board website and print off the official score report. The registration staff will load the waiver in the system that will allow the student to enroll in Composition II.

  3. In their high school, students may log in to the College Board website and have their high school counselor print off the official score report. The high school may then email the score report to registrar_office@jccc.edu or fax to 913-469-2300 and the records office will load the waiver in the system that will allow the student to enroll in Composition II.
