Applying to Study Abroad
To begin the application process, stop by the International Education Office, COM 220, or email firstname.lastname@example.org to ask questions and to talk about your study abroad goals. We want to help you find the program that best fits your interests and goals.
GPA and Language Requirements
Most of our study abroad programs require that you have a cumulative 2.5 GPA. A few programs require a 3.0 GPA.
There is no study abroad language requirement except for Japan. If JCCC teaches the language of the country where you are going, we suggest - but do not require - that you take a semester before you go. You'll be glad you did, because having some basic language skills will make your time abroad more rewarding.
In most cases, you will also study that language for at least one course during your time abroad. Your other courses will be taught in English.
When to Apply
You should apply to study abroad early in the semester prior to your study abroad program. The application deadline is usually Oct. 15 for spring study abroad programs and March 15 for summer and fall programs
"Studying abroad meant as much to me as finding a log out in the ocean. Each new country that I visited represented a new log added to my raft, eventually construing a larger and larger raft with which I will continue to travel to new places in order to better understand the world." -- Raven, Russia
