Ray Wright

Ray Wright is currently teaching Basic Cardiology and EKG Recognition (EMS 140) at Johnson County Community College in the Emergency Medical Science department.

Mr. Wright began his EMS career with the City of Newton (Kansas) Ambulance Department in February of 1973, working as an ambulance attendant. In Newton, Mr. Wright worked as an EMT driver, paramedic and paramedic team leader.  In 1977 he left Newton to accept employment at Johnson County Med-Act, where he served as a paramedic, paramedic team leader and training officer. 

Mr. Wright left Johnson County Med-Act to accept a teaching position at Johnson County Community College in 1982.  While at JCCC he developed the paramedic training program and was instrumental in achieving the program’s accreditation, one of the first programs in the region to be accredited.  Mr. Wright has taught 30 paramedic classes as well as numerous First Responder, EMT and EMT-I classes in his 34 years at JCCC.  From 2007 to 2013 Mr. Wright was program director for the EMS department. 

While at JCCC he was nominated twice for the BNSF Railway Faculty Award, and he was National EMS Instructor of the Year in 1990 and Kansas EMS Instructor of the year in 2008.  Mr. Wright retired from Johnson County Community College in the EMS department in 2013.
