February 14, 2020
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County Community College is thrilled to announce a hand-clapping, boot-stomping night of country music rocking the Carlsen Center on Saturday, May 2, at 8 p.m. in the intimate Yardley Hall. All proceeds from the event will benefit student scholarships and educational programs.
The Cohen Community Series presents country music treasure Mark Chesnutt, performing exclusively with country duo Thompson Square. Tickets start at $25 and are on sale now! A limited number of VIP tickets, which include a post-show meet-and-greet reception with the artists, will be available for $125. No discounts apply. Get the best seats at the best price when you buy tickets early!
About the Artists
Critics have hailed Mark Chesnutt as a classic country singer of the first order. Some of the industry’s most elite entertainers, from George Jones to George Strait, echo that same sentiment. If you ask Chesnutt, he’ll tell you, “it’s the music and the fans that have kept me around this long.” Those fans helped his records climb the charts, earning him a spot as one of “Billboard’s Ten Most-Played Radio Artists of the ’90s.”
Husband and wife duo Thompson Square has reemerged in the music scene with their newest album called Masterpiece. This album is filled with all the passionate potency Thompson Square is known for, plus a fearless new range of sounds and personality. Pristine country balladry is joined by sandy reggae funk, fire-breathing arena rock and sensual R&B as the duo strive to be honest with each song’s creative genesis.
About the Cohen Community Series
The Cohen Community Series was inaugurated in 2008 through a gift from Jon Stewart, former vice chairman of the JCCC Board of Trustees, JCCC alumnus and former president of Metcalf Bank. The contribution was given in honor of the late Barton P. Cohen, president of Metcalf Bancshares, vice chairman and general counsel of Metcalf Bank and an attorney with Blackwell Sanders Peper Martin LLP.
Previous Cohen Community Series presenters have included Roots & Boots (Sammy Kershaw, Collin Raye and Aaron Tippin), Phil Vassar, Josh Turner, Lonestar, Sawyer Brown, Tracy Lawrence, Diamond Rio, George Will, Marcus Buckingham and Vince Gill.###
