OVERLAND PARK, Kan – During a recent meeting, the Board of Trustees unanimously voted on the approval of the executive search firm, AGB Search, to assist in the process of finding a new President for Johnson County Community College. Current JCCC president, Joe Sopcich, announced his retirement in July 2019, effective July 1, 2020.

As an initial step, JCCC is hosting two community listening sessions Oct. 10, both facilitated by consultants from AGB Search. These sessions are vital to develop a Search Profile and draft advertisements that will be integral to the College’s recruitment efforts.

During the meetings, each participant will have the opportunity to share thoughts about desired talents, accomplishments and experiences the ideal candidate should possess. The sessions will also query future opportunities and challenges for the College and the new President. We are expecting a strong pool of candidates and the JCCC community’s involvement in this process will help ensure the best results.

If you are unable to attend one of the community gatherings, you can share your thoughts in an upcoming Presidential Search Input Survey. A link to the on-line survey will be available Oct. 11, through Oct. 20 on the JCCC website.

Please join us at one of these times:

  • 7 – 8 p.m., Community/alumni in the CoLab – OCB 100
  • 8 – 9 p.m., Open forum in the CoLab – OCB 100

Thank you for your interest and participation in this important process.
