OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Thanks to a recent grant from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Johnson County Community College's Commercial Driver’s License (CDL-A) training program has tuition-free scholarships available for veterans and their immediate family members.

The FMCSA recently announced it will fund $2 million in Commercial Motor Vehicle Operator Safety Training grants to 16 different organizations that prepare veterans for a career in trucking.

Fifteen scholarships will be presented within a 12-month award period. This funding will allow current or former members of the United States Armed Forces and their immediate family members to complete JCCC’s CDL-A training program without the worry of tuition costs.

JCCC’s fully accredited program can prepare drivers for a lucrative career in the growing commercial trucking industry. Skilled truck drivers are in high demand and have the potential to earn $48,000 or more annually.
