First-time College Student? Complete Mandatory New Student Orientation, Onboarding, & Advising 

All first-time college students are required to complete New Student Orientation online. At the end of the orientation, you will be assigned a Success Coach to help you prepare for your first semester. Call 913-469-3809 to make your Success Coaching appointment or schedule online.

Your Success Coach will introduce you to your assigned Counselor. During the visit with your Counselor, you’ll discuss your goals and create an academic plan tailored to your needs.

Counselors and Success Coaches are located in the Student Success Center on the second floor of the Student Center.

Returning Student? Connect with Your Counselor 

  1. Log in to your MyJCCC account 
  2. Click on MyProfile. You’ll see your primary counselor listed. 

Counseling Appointments 

If you're interested in a particular major, you can consult with a Counselor in that area. Appointments can be scheduled in two ways:

Personal Counseling

Counselors are your advocate. They provide a safe and confidential environment to talk about personal concerns and make referrals to appropriate agencies when needed.

Crisis Counseling

Crisis During Counseling Office Hours

Mon-Wed 8 a.m.-6 p.m., Thu 10 a.m.-6 p.m., and Fri 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

What to do if you are a student

  • Come to the 2nd floor of the Student Center and state you need crisis services
    OR
  • Call ext. 3560 or 913-469-3809

Counselors will work with you to find appropriate support and provide mental health referrals as needed.

What to do if you are a faculty/staff member

  • Call Counseling at ext. 3560 or 3809 and let them know you are bringing a student in crisis if possible
    AND/OR
  • Bring student directly to the Counseling Center, 2nd floor Student Center
  • Let administrative assistant know student is in crisis
  • Call or text the National Suicide Hotline - 988
  • Emergency Situation: Call campus police at ext. 2500 or 913-469-4111
  • Off Campus Emergency – 911

After-hours crisis resources (evenings, weekends, holidays, school closed)
