Oliver Gonzales, President

My name is Oliver Gonzales, and I am honored to serve as the Student Senate President for the 2025-2026 school year at Johnson County Community College. After JCCC, I plan to pursue a degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Kansas.

I joined Student Senate to give back to JCCC for everything it has given me as a high school student. I want to show people how great JCCC is and make sure every student has access to the same or even greater opportunities that JCCC gave me. As President, I am committed to making sure every student's voice is heard and that no one misses out on what JCCC has to offer.

Priviledge Mudzembwe, Treasurer

My name is Priviledge Mudzembwe. I’m a General Science major on the pre-med track, originally from Zimbabwe, and someone who genuinely loves being involved on campus. In Student Senate, I serve as Treasurer and chair both the Budget Committee and the Service and Fundraising Committee. A lot of my work happens behind the scenes; reviewing budgets, helping clubs get funding for their events, and organizing service and fundraising activities that bring students together.

I joined Student Senate because I wanted to be part of something that actually makes a difference for students. I believed in the idea that students should have a voice in shaping their campus, and I wanted to help make that happen. Along the way, Senate became more than just a leadership position for me; it became something I truly enjoy being part of.

Some days I’m working through spreadsheets and funding requests, and other days I’m talking with students about their ideas or helping plan service events. Those moments remind me why I joined in the first place; to support other students and help make our campus a better place for everyone.

Outside of Senate, I’m also an upcoming model and makeup artist. It’s a creative side of me that I love exploring. No matter what space I’m in, I try to bring energy, creativity, and a willingness to help. Being part of Student Senate has been one of the most meaningful parts of my college experience, and it’s something I’m truly proud of."

Ambreen Ali, Secretary

My name is Ambreen Ali, and I am currently pursuing an Associate’s degree in Liberal Arts while completing prerequisites for a Bachelor’s in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. I am always eager to learn new skills and expand my knowledge.

Joining the JCCC Student Senate has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my academic journey. It has challenged me to enhance my leadership abilities and truly understand what it means to serve others. Being in a position where I can listen to my fellow students, understand their concerns, and bring those concerns to the people who have the power to act on them is something I am proud to be a part of.

Serving as Secretary has further strengthened that sense of responsibility. It has refined my communication and organizational skills, and it has taught me the value of showing up with consistency and purpose. Beyond the role itself, another rewarding experience I have is the connections that I have built with students, fellow senators, and faculty. I am proud to be part of an organization that is genuinely committed to improving the student experience at JCCC, and I remain dedicated to serving this community with integrity and care.

Angelina Kamugisha, Parliamentarian

My name is Angelina Kamugisha, and I am honored to serve as the Student Senate Parliamentarian for the 2025–2026 year at Johnson County Community College. I was born and raised in Tanzania and moved to the United States to pursue my degree in Nursing, which I am currently completing at JCCC.

As Parliamentarian, I oversee the Rules and Conduct Committee and ensure that all meetings follow proper procedures. I am responsible for interpreting Robert’s Rules of Order whenever questions about meeting processes arise, helping the senate operate in a fair, organized, and professional manner.

I chose to serve as Parliamentarian because I am organized, responsible, and committed to maintaining structure and fairness in decision-making. In this role, I help discussions remain respectful and productive so that every member’s voice is heard. My interest in leadership and governance continues to grow as I strengthen my knowledge of procedures, teamwork, and effective decision-making. I also enjoy helping the group stay focused while working toward shared goals.

Serving in student government allows me to support an effective and respectful leadership environment while developing important skills such as confidence, responsibility, and communication that will benefit me in my future career.

I encourage other students to join the Student Senate if they want to make a difference, represent their peers, and grow as leaders. It is a meaningful and rewarding opportunity to serve the campus community.

“Be the voice. Be the change. Be the leader.”
