The TB skin test is also called the Mantoux tuberculin skin test (TST). A TB skin test requires two visits with a health care provider.

On the first visit the test is placed; on the second visit the health care provider reads the test.

Yes! On your first day of class, you will be required to bring your CNA card.

An appropriate reading placement test score, proof of Kansas CNA certification, a current TB skin test within the last year with negative results, current CPR for Healthcare Providers documentation and a Social Security card.

The state exam may be repeated one time if the first attempt is not successful, for a total of two tries. The second exam given is an alternate test. If you fail on the second attempt on the test, you are required to retake the course before attempting to take the exam again, and after repeating the course, will have only one attempt to pass the state certification exam.

Yes! You are required to complete a minimum of 25 clinical practice hours and receive a satisfactory evaluation in order to take the Kansas State CMA examination. Clinical sites are decided on by the instructor, as well as the schedule for those clinicals.

To be eligible to apply for the CMA program, you must have completed an appropriate reading placement test score, proof of Kansas CNA certification, a current TB skin test within the last year with negative results, current CPR for Healthcare Providers documentation and a Social Security card.

You should rely on information from the instructor on what exact supplies you would need for the course. You can purchase class necessities at the JCCC Bookstore, where there is a specific list outlining the items you will  need in their classes.

You can find JCCC-issued scrubs, as well other class supplies at the campus bookstore, located on main campus.

If you miss getting a seat in one of our CMA courses, you may want to add your name to the waitlist for the section you need. See waitlist procedures. Please note that adding yourself does not automatically guarantee that you will eventually secure a spot in the program! However, if you are notified of a seat opening, you must register within 24 hours or your spot in the waiting list will be given to the next student following.

If you've already begun the course, you will not receive a refund. You may reapply for the program during the time of registration when it's next available.
