Instructors have provided the following information to generally describe what to expect in their classes.

Math

Class Format

All classes are taught in a face-to-face setting. Classes are mostly lectures with students’ questions welcome. In some classes, class time is set aside for “in-class assignments” to supplement learning.

Resource Use

Blank class notes will be used. Blank notes are available as a paper copy or as an electronic copy in Canvas. Class notes that are filled in during class will be available in Canvas.

A graphing calculator is used in College Algebra and higher.

Assessment

Contemporary Math requires online homework. All classes, including Contemporary Math, will have graded periodic worksheets. In Calculus classes, homework from the book is assigned and greatly encouraged. Book homework is not part of the graded assessments.

Three-to-four unit tests are given throughout the semester. A cumulative final exam will be given during finals week.

Homework Policy

Extra credit for homework is offered in algebra classes.  “Class Preparation Sheets” (which includes reading, attendance, and homework) is assigned in Statistics, Discrete Math, and Finite Math.  For Trigonometry and Calculus, homework is assigned, but not collected nor graded.

Attendance Policy

Attendance will be taken every class period, but will not count toward the class grade. If a student misses class, they are expected to consult the notes in Canvas to see what was covered. If a student is absent when an in-class assignment is given, the student cannot make up the work. However, I excuse three in-class assignments for the semester.
