Instructors have provided the following information to generally describe what to expect in their classes.

Math

Class Format

Face-to-face sections: The instructor will always review the previous lecture at the beginning of class. The pace of each course will always be to prepare you for the next course in the sequence (see course catalog). In-class questions/comments are always encouraged during lecture.

Resource Use

Textbooks: Required for every course. If there is an online textbook available, then a physical copy is not necessary.

Calculators: Math 171 and below require a scientific calculator, while courses greater than 171 require a graphing calculator.

Assessment

3 or 4 in-class exams per semester and 1 comprehensive final (worth roughly 20% of the student’s grade).

Homework Policy

The homework/quiz/exam schedule will always be available in the syllabus.

  1. No quizzes can be made up.
  2. Written homework can be handed in up to 1 scheduled class after the assigned date for half credit. Online homework will have no extensions.
  3. Exams can be made up under special circumstances such as family emergencies (proof of such cases are required).

Attendance Policy

  1. Students are expected to attend every lecture.
  2. If they miss a class, they must first check the syllabus to see what they missed. If a student has missed a class, he or she is required to read the section that was missed and to come to the instructor if there are further questions.
  3. It is always the duty of the student to contact the professor when missing class.
