Instructors have provided the following information to generally describe what to expect in their classes.

Math

Class Format

Classes are taught face-to-face. Lectures typically involve a conceptual development of the topic and its relation to previous topics followed by examples and student practice. Student participation in class is highly encouraged.

Resource Use

Textbooks are required.

Scientific calculators are required. Graphing calculators are optional.

Homework is due each class. Select problems are carefully graded for accuracy, while the remainder of the problems are graded for completion. Homework accounts for approximately 25% of the course grade.

Tests are given approximately once a month, with five unit exams and the Final Exam. These are closed-book and closed note exams. The lowest exam score may be replaced with the Final Exam score.

Attendance Policy

Students who miss more than a few classes rarely, if ever, do well, but there is no specific penalty for absences, nor is attendance factored into the grade.
