Class Format
Typical Class Format – Classes taught in a face-to-face section will typically begin with homework questions and a quick review of previous day’s material and then new material is presented with student interaction including time to practice examples.
Resource Use
Textbooks are optional for all courses for which online homework is used (typically most courses will use online homework) since the textbooks are offered online in those cases.
Calculators are used to supplement learning. A scientific calculator is sufficient for all courses; however, for some courses, certain graphing calculators may be allowed.
Computer software may be used in Statistics.
Online homework is used for most courses, including face-to-face sections.
Assessment
Typically, a student’s grade will be composed of scores on homework, quizzes, unit exams, and the final exam. There may be additional written assignments for online/onose sections.
Homework Policy
Online homework will generally constitute about 10% of the course grade and students will have multiple opportunities to successfully complete the problems prior to the due date.
Attendance Policy
Students should expect that any missed class time will result in an incomplete understanding of the material. This, in turn, may adversely affect grades. However, attendance is not used in grade calculation. If an absence is anticipated, online homework assignments can be completed prior to class time for full credit. To be fair to all students, no quizzes or exams may be taken after the scheduled exam date due to absence. However, the final exam percentage may be used as a replacement for one lowest unit exam percentage if it is lower than the final exam percentage.
