JCCC is accepting Spring 2024 applications for the Nail Technology Program
Please read this page in its entirety for application and enrollment instructions in the Spring 2024 Part-Time Nail Technology Program at Johnson County Community College.
Program dates and class schedule
- January 8 – May 25, 2024
- Monday – Thursday, 5:30 p.m.- 9:30 p.m
- Saturday – 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Application information
- This class will seat a maximum of 24 students on a first come, first served basis.
- Admissions must have BOTH your application and test scores to complete your application.
- If the class is full and you are still interested, you can complete the admissions process and place yourself on the waitlist.
Before you can complete the application for the Spring 2024 Part-Time Nail Technology Program, please be sure you have completed the steps below:
- STEP 1: Complete a JCCC General Admission Application
- You will need to change your major to 3100 Nail Technology.
- Use the following link for information and a form to Declare or Change Major: https://www.jccc.edu/student-resources/records/change-major.html
- If you have taken any classes at JCCC within the last 2 years, you do not need to reapply for General Admission. You must, however, change your major to 3100 Nail Technology.
- Upon completion of the General Admission Application, new students will be assigned a JCCC ID number and JCCC Stumail Account.
- Please Note: All college-related communications for both new and existing students must be made using your Stumail account per JCCC policy.
- STEP 2: Complete/Submit Prerequisite and/or Test Scores
- To be considered for any School of Cosmetology program, you must meet at least one of the following:
- ENGL 121, RDG 126, LC 126 with a grade of C or higher
- ACT Composite Score of 19 or higher
- ACCUPLACER Next Generation Reading Exam score of 227 or higher.
- ACCUPLACER Classic Reading Exam score of 40 or higher
- COMPASS Reading Exam score of 64 or higher
- ACT sub score of 19 or higher in reading
- ACCUPLACER-ESL (English as a Second Language) test score of 115 or higher
- Testing Information
- Course grades and placement exams taken at JCCC are automatically uploaded to your account.
- Only exams taken within the last 5 years can be considered.
- ACCUPLACER Next Generation Reading Exam is offered in Testing Services - JCCC Main Campus
- Testing is currently being scheduled by appointment only at the Student Center, Room 334.
- You will need a valid photo ID with you for testing.

- STEP 3: Acceptance and Registration

- STEP 4: Tuition Payment Deadline
- The Spring 2024 credit tuition payment deadline is 6 p.m. on Tuesday, January 9, 2024.
- Failure to pay by this deadline will result in your removal from the class.
- Please Note: the Part-Time Nail Technology class does not currently qualify for financial aid.
- You are financially responsible for all charges on your account.

EXCEL IN CTE
(Career and Technical Education Initiative - SB155)
Current High School Students Only
- Excel in CTE Initiative (Formerly Senate Bill 155) was passed to stimulate growth in Career and Technical Education in the secondary and post- secondary level in Kansas.
- Current high school students enrolling in eligible programs will be waived of tuition fees for courses taken before high school graduation. Books, kit, and uniform items will need to be paid for out of pocket by the student.
- Programs in the Cosmetology Department are eligible for the Excel in CTE initiative.
