JCCC’s cutting-edge Nail Technology program teaches you the foundational principles of nail technology. In as little as 13 weeks, you’ll be ready for a career as a licensed nail technician or manicurist.
With the increasing demand for luxury services and treatments, the nail services industry is seeing explosive growth. Jobs for licensed nail technicians are expected to grow faster than other occupations at 33% by 2030, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
As a nail technician, also referred to as a manicurist, you can set your own schedule and work where you’d like. Once you earn your license, you will be equipped to work as an independent consultant, work in a salon, nail salon, day spa, resort, or own your own salon.

Our program trains you to exceed expectations and deliver top-notch nail services to your clients, making them feel and look their best. You will also gain interactive classroom and salon clinic experience—the key to industry success as a licensed nail technician.
Through this program, you will:
- Learn natural nail manicures and pedicures.
- Practice artistic application of nail enhancements, including acrylics, fabric wraps, gels and gel polish.
- Get instruction in sanitation, diseases, disorders, conditions of the nails, and entrepreneurship and business practices. Build the technical and soft skills needed to successfully pass your Kansas State Board of Cosmetology or Missouri Board of Cosmetology Manicurist licensure written and practical exams.
Application requirements for the Nail Technology program
Prio to registering for this program, you will need to complete a free, online application. Applications are reviewed in the order that they are received, with rolling admissions until all course seats are filled. In addition to the program application, you must also:
- Have a Social Security Card (physical card or photocopy)
- Have a valid Government Issued Photo ID (Driver’s License, Passport, Military ID)
- Have completed high school or obtained your GED (and able to request your transcript to be sent to your licensing state board)
- Be 18 years of age or older
Name on Social Security Card and Photo ID must match.
Without a Social Security card, government-issued photo ID, and high school or equivalent education, you will not be able to be licensed in Kansas nor Missouri. These are state requirements to be licensed.
Nail Technology course requirements
This program has a strict attendance policy. All students must be available to attend in-person class sessions and provide nail services to the public during salon hours (same as class hours).
This program has a uniform. All students must wear black scrubs (purchased through the retailer of your choice) and closed toe shoes. Uniform must be worn to all class sessions and during salon hours.
This course requires completion of online assignments. All students must be able to access a computer that has video conferencing capabilities (webcam and microphone) and which supports basic software, i.e., Chrome/Microsoft Edge browsers, Canvas, Yuja, Office 365 applications, and Zoom.
State licensing requirements
Successful completion of the Nail Technology program is just the first step in being a licensed Nail Technician. Please refer to the following for more information on state licensing requirements and procedures. Students will receive assistance to complete the required applications and scheduling examinations:
- Kansas Board of Cosmetology
- Missouri Board of Cosmetology
- Students wishing to apply for licensure in Missouri must verify their hours through the Kansas Board of Cosmetology, apply for an Examination/Temporary Permit, and take the Missouri written and practical exams.
Nail Technology costs
Program cost: $4,999
This program cost includes tuition, textbooks, course materials, and a student nail kit as well as licensing and examination fees.
The program cost of $4,999 is due upon registration, either through a one-time payment, a three-month payment plan, or alternative funding options through Continuing Education.
