National Incident Management System Policy 620.00
Johnson County Community College
Series: 600 Safety and Security
Section: Campus Community Safety, Wellness and Continuity

In support of its emergency management and business continuity endeavors, Johnson County Community College will use the National Incident Management System (NIMS) as its standard, coordinated and systematic method for incident management along with Disaster Recovery Institute International professional practices.

Emergency Management ensures the NIMS approach is incorporated into the College’s emergency management practices to help the College community prepare for, respond to, recover from and reduce the effects of incidents and potential incidents, whether they are intentional, accidental or natural.

College employees who have functional or oversight responsibilities associated with incident management are expected to complete NIMS training requirements as developed under the National Response Framework for NIMS and participate in emergency management and continuity exercises intended to improve overall College preparedness.
