Free Workshops

Choices – The choices workshop is designed to guide you through the beginning stages of the career decision-making process. You will take several career assessments and use the results to research options for careers or college majors. Contact us or stop by to register, or register online.

Discover Your Strengths – You possess many unique talents, the specific ways in which you naturally think, feel and behave. Because your talents represent the best of you, they are your greatest opportunities for success in college, your career and your personal life. 

Career Assessment Options

FOCUS 2 Career Assessment

  • FOCUS 2 (free; online) combines self-assessment, career and major exploration, decision making and action planning in one comprehensive product. It's designed to help you summarize your self-assessed interests, skills, values and personality. You can discover and explore occupations, career paths and education programs compatible with your personal attributes, and create a record of the different alternative occupations and training programs that appeal to you. Create your own account at Focus2Career.com. Use our JCCC access code: explore. If you already have an account, you may login to Focus2Career.com directly. You are encouraged to schedule a follow-up session with the Career Development Center to discuss your results.

Interests, College Majors and Careers

  • Your interests, college majors and careers assessment is designed to help you find out what your interests are and how they relate to career options.

Clifton Strengthsfinder 2.0™

  • Strengthsfinder ($9.99 online), created by Gallup, allows access to the Clifton StrengthsFinder assessment, reports and resources. Use it to reveal your 34 strengths. You possess many talents – the specific ways in which you naturally think, feel and behave. Find out the top 5 talents that represent the best of you to ensure greater opportunities for success in college, your career and your personal life. Schedule a follow-up session with our Career Development Center staff if you’d like to discuss your personalized report. This assessment is free if you attend a free "Discover Your Strengths" workshop.

Strong Interest Inventory

  • Strong Interest Inventory (SII) (online; see a counselor for a referral) is an assessment of interests that uses the theory of John Holland, who studied the relationship between interests and careers. Your results are sent electronically to your referring counselor. A follow-up interpretation/counseling session is required.
    $10 – Profile and career report
    $20 – Profile and extensive career report

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator

  • The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, MBTI (online; see a counselor for a referral), assesses your personality type preferences to be compared with type preferences for various occupations. Your results are sent electronically to your referring counselor. A follow-up interpretation/counseling session is required.
