Johnson County Community College (JCCC) has been awarded a $10,000 Progress, Accomplishment, Thriving, Hope (PATH) Scholarship from the Ellucian Foundation.

The PATH grant is part of a global effort from the Ellucian Foundation to help students overcome unexpected financial barriers and stay on track toward completing their education. JCCC is one of 58 colleges and universities worldwide selected to receive funding through the Ellucian Foundation’s 2025 PATH Scholarship program, which distributed more than $700,000 to institutions committed to advancing student persistence and success.

National research shows that financial stress is one of the leading reasons students drop out of college. The PATH Scholarship allows JCCC to provide direct, flexible financial support to eligible students when they need it most, helping them stay focused on their academic and career goals. During the Fall 2025 semester, 34 students received PATH grant funding to help cover essential and unexpected expenses such as tuition, housing, medical bills, and transportation.

“Too often, students are forced to step away from college, not because they lack ability or motivation, but because of a temporary financial setback,” said Ashley Jost, Supervisor of Scholarships, Outreach & Communication. “This grant allows JCCC to help students persist through challenges, remain enrolled, and continue working toward their degree or certificate.”
