OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County Community College (JCCC) announces the selection of Dr. Leslie Hardin for Vice President for Human Resources. The JCCC Board of Trustees approved her hiring at the Dec. 10, 2020, meeting. Dr. Hardin currently serves as Chief of Human Resources at Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, Tennessee. She will assume her new post on Jan. 19, 2021.

“We attracted an incredibly diverse pool of applicants and candidates for this position who offered community and technical college experience, as well as university, municipal and private sector knowledge,” JCCC President Andy Bowne said. “The selection committee brought forward four highly qualified finalists and I believe Dr. Leslie Hardin is the best choice from the four finalists.

“The selection committee and I were impressed with Dr. Hardin’s HR experience in higher education in Tennessee and Georgia, as well as her student affairs and adjunct teaching experience. With over 15 years in human resources and 12 years in higher education, Dr. Hardin has had extensive involvement with diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.”

Dr. Hardin shares, “Human resources is not my career, it’s my passion. Over almost two decades I have prepared myself for exactly what JCCC offers to the community: educational excellence, innovation and a commitment to student success. These core principles are what led me to pursue and accept the opportunity at JCCC.”

As Vice President, Dr. Hardin will serve as a member of the JCCC executive leadership team in the President’s Cabinet. Earlier this week, Dr. Bowne announced a restructuring of the President’s Cabinet to better support the developing strategic direction of the College, the work done in each of its branches and the shared focus to create equitable student success.
