What Will I Learn in JCCC's Health Information Systems Program?

If you are highly motivated and a proficient problem-solver, understand the importance of exceptional customer service and skilled technical support, and have a passion to help people, then you have the qualities to excel as a health information systems professional.

Choose from two tracks:

  • Associate of Science with Emphasis in Health Information Systems — Earn your associate degree and transfer to a four-year program at one of JCCC’s transfer partner schools. Or move directly into the workforce to support the health information systems industry usage of electronic health records (EHR) and other technologies to advance the quality, efficiency and security of patient records for improved care.
  • Health Information Systems Specialist Certificate — Provide user support of health information systems and design and deliver training programs to employees in clinical and public health settings. This certificate will also provide participants with the knowledge and skills to assist healthcare providers to design workflow and use EHRs to meet government standards of quality reporting and improvement initiatives.

Your studies will include training in simulated environments developed by Cerner, the nation’s leader in health information and electronic health records (EHR) technology. Cerner’s products are in use at more than 27,000 facilities around the world. You will learn to:
