Trolley Challenge

Prior to the event, teams of two will get specifications to design and build a motorized trolley that travels under its own power on a mounted cable line. Teams bring their completed design to test with judge supervision. The fastest trolley across the cable line wins.

Bridge Builder

Prior to the event, teams of two will get specifications to design and build a balsa bridge. Teams bring their completed design to test with judge supervision. Their bridge will be loaded until it breaks or deflects beyond the allowed amount. The highest ratio of supported weight/bridge weight wins.

CADD-Architectural

Students get an architectural drawing problem at the event and must complete and plot drawing(s) to standards in the time allotted. Drawing(s) will be scored on completeness, accuracy, and adherence to drafting standards. AutoCAD, Revit and Microstation software provided.

CADD-Mechanical

Students get  a mechanical drawing problem at the event and must complete and plot the drawing(s) to standards in the time allotted. Drawing(s) will be scored on completeness, accuracy, and adherence to drafting standards. AutoCAD, Fusion 360, Inventor and Microstation software provided.

Industry Quest

Each school’s students work as a team. Local companies will be on hand to talk about opportunities for drafting students. Each team gets a quest card at check-in with questions about each company. Students engage with industry professionals to find answers. Correct answers earn points; point total determines the overall school winner.
