Fall 2019: Map Out Your Wellness on Campus

  • 12 Days of Wellness Challenge Begins November 29 (day after Thanksgiving) to December 10th
    • Reception of Participants with logs - Dec. 10 in COM 1.5 at 9:30 am to 10:30 am. Look for details in November on Infohub.
  • Participants of the Great River Road Race from Sept 30 – Nov 10
    • Celebration for participants — 11:30 a.m.- 1 p.m. Nov. 15, 2019; drawings at 12:30 p.m.
  • Health/Wellness Fair in April
  • Health Biometric Screens free for all employees at Professional Development Days each semester (August or January)
  • Flu shots available in fall semester (September/October- Locations are on campus, OHEC and West Park Center)

On-Campus Wellness Classes

Work out with your JCCC colleagues in employee fitness classes with licensed instructors to assist you. There are no deadlines to enroll in these classes.

  • T’ai Chi – This gentle form of exercise can prevent or ease many ills of
  • Weight Training & Conditioning – Weight training and conditioning exercises that vary with each
  • Yoga – Beginner to intermediate level yoga that teaches strength, flexibility, endurance, and
  • Zumba – Blends upbeat world rhythms with easy-to-follow choreography for a total- body workout that is exhilarating and

Enrollment Instructions

Small Group Personal Training
Sign-ups will begin for Spring 2020 in January. (No CRN) These sessions fill up fast and have a commitment to the full eight-week session. There are multiple time frame options. Email Ruth Dey if interested.

Faculty/Staff Lifetime Fitness Center Use

All current JCCC employees, their spouses, and college-age dependents are eligible to use the fitness center in the Gym. Employees may walk in with their JCCC ID card (NO orientation is required). Spouses and college-age dependents will need to email Ruth Dey, Wellness Coordinator, or call ext. 3217 to use the fitness center.

Regular Hours when classes are in session for fall, spring and summer:

  • Monday-Thursday: 5:30 a.m.-10 p.m.
  • Friday: 5:30 a.m.-7 p.m.
  • Saturday: 6 a.m.-3 p.m.
  • Sunday: 1-5 p.m.

Semester Break Hours are:

  • Monday-Friday 5:30 -8:30 a.m., 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and 4:30-7:30 p.m.
  • Fitness Center is closed if the College is closed.

Indoor Track Use

JCCC employees may use the indoor track in the Gym by presenting their JCCC ID card to the check-in desk. The track is open Monday through Friday based on availability; please call ahead before arriving to make sure it is not closed for an event.

The Fieldhouse phone extension is 4635.

Chair Massages

Chair massages from a certified massage therapist occur right on campus! 15-minute sessions cost $15. Located in Regnier Center 171.

Kansas City Corporate Challenge

The KC Corporate Challenge is an Olympic-style charitable event that allows participants to interact with each other through sporting events. Games are played every year from April through June at iconic Kansas City locations including the Truman Sports Complex, Kansas Speedway and Shawnee Mission Park.

Each year, a Kansas City-based charitable organization benefits financially from KCCC.
