JCCC is in regular communications with the Johnson County Department of Health and Environment (JCDHE) and notifies or is notified whenever there is a positive COVID-19 case associated with the JCCC campus.

When a Case is Identified

When a JCCC-related positive case of COVID-19 is identified, the College works with the JCDHE. The County manages all contact tracing.

The College will immediately contact any employee, or student, or other individual known to have been in close contact (as determined by the CDC definition) with a positive case and the College may advise contacts to self-quarantine as a precautionary measure while the JCDHE undertakes the appropriate contact tracing process.

JCCC follows JCDHE guidance and advisement with any campus confirmed case. Be sure to answer your phone if you receive any calls from an unknown number when there is an open case associated with the College.

Please continue to follow the daily wellness self-check and monitor for symptoms.

Contact tracing is a part of the JCDHE COVID-19 testing and containment plan. For the latest information about COVID-19 from the JCDHE, visit the JCDHE COVID-19 website

What is a “Contact”

A contact is defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as “someone who was within 6 feet of an infected person for at least 15 minutes starting from 2 days before illness onset (or, for asymptomatic patients, 2 days prior to specimen collection) until the time the patient is isolated.”
